Sports Venue of the Year Award
The Sports Venue of the Year award aims to highlight the importance, value and awareness of sports venue construction, which requires special expertise. The award is a recognition of the expertise of the developers, designers, builders and maintainers of the sites.
The background document for the evaluation of the projects can be considered the architectural policy program approved by the Finnish government in 1998, which requires that public and state-supported construction and environmental development serve as a high-quality example for all construction in our country.
The Sports Venue of the Year is selected by the official responsible for sports venue construction at the Ministry of Education and Culture. The site must have been completed or renovated in the two years preceding the award, during which time experience has been gained in its use and functionality. The award aims to highlight the importance, value and awareness of sports venue construction, which requires special expertise, and is also a recognition of the expertise of the developers, designers, builders and maintainers of the sites. The Sports Venue of the Year award and a miniature model that will remain at the venue are donated by the Tampere Fair Group.
